As someone who loves indulging in the finest steaks, I made it my mission this year to seek out the best steakhouses Los Angeles has to offer. From classic cuts to contemporary twists, 2024 has been a steak-lover’s paradise for me, and I’ve found five spots that stand out. Here’s my top five list, based on meat quality, atmosphere, and top-notch service THUS FAR. The year is still young and who knows, maybe we'll publish an updated list.

5. STK Steakhouse - Westwood

STK is where the vibe meets quality steak. The atmosphere is lively and upscale, with a chic, modern design that feels like a blend of fine dining and a high-end lounge. I went for the dry-aged Delmonico, and the balance of marbling and tenderness made it a standout. The atmosphere here is unlike any other steakhouse – there’s a DJ, a trendy crowd, and an electric energy that makes it feel like a night out. Despite the buzz, the service remains top-tier, with the staff offering detailed recommendations and keeping the experience refined yet fun.

4. BOA Steakhouse - West Hollywood

BOA combines a vibrant, trendy atmosphere with top-tier steaks. The dry-aged New York strip I tried was cooked just right, with the ideal amount of seasoning and char. It’s a place where the scene is almost as impressive as the food. BOA also excels in service – attentive but never intrusive. The modern vibe, with its upscale yet lively ambiance, makes it a great spot for a night out with a touch of glamour.

3. Mastro's Steakhouse - Downtown LA

Mastro’s is known for consistently delivering on all fronts. The bone-in filet I had was cooked to perfection, juicy with that signature steakhouse char. The live music, dim lighting, and classic leather booths give it a timeless atmosphere that you can sink into. The service here is polished but warm, making you feel special from the moment you step in. Mastro’s is perfect for both a business dinner or a night out with friends.

2. Alexander's Steakhouse - Pasadena

For those who love a bit of flair, Alexander's offers an unforgettable fusion of Japanese influence with a traditional American steakhouse. Their A5 Japanese Wagyu is unmatched – buttery and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed, and the open kitchen gives it an inviting, dynamic energy. The service was outstanding – knowledgeable, attentive, and happy to suggest the best pairings for each cut. Their service has to be my favorite

1. CUT by Wolfgang Puck - Beverly Hills

When it comes to premium meat and modern sophistication, CUT is hard to beat. Located in the iconic Beverly Wilshire Hotel, this place exudes luxury. I went for the American Wagyu ribeye, and the meat was incredible – tender, juicy, and rich with flavor. The minimalist, sleek interior adds to the fine dining experience, while the service is impeccable, with staff that knows their cuts inside and out. If you’re looking for a modern twist on the steakhouse vibe, CUT is it.

Final Thoughts

Los Angeles offers a diverse range of steakhouses, each with its own unique vibe and strengths. Whether you’re in the mood for contemporary chic or old-school charm, these top five steakhouses offer the best in terms of meat quality, atmosphere, and service. Each one left a lasting impression, and I’ll definitely be returning to these favorites in the future.
